Karen Berger joined DC Comics in 1979 as an assistant to then-editor Paul Levitz. Since then she graduated to become founder and long-running top editor of the Vertigo Comics imprint, while Levitz became DC's Publisher. Both have now since left the publisher, with Berger leading her own imprint at Dark Horse and Levitz going into teaching (and being on the board of BOOM! Studios), and now they reunite at Comic-Con International: San Diego for a panel.
