In a rare move, DC Comics is surprising retailers - and readers - with a one-off title later this month. A 16-page People of Earth #1 one-shot by writer Ivan Cohen and artist Tony Shasteen, based on the TBS live-action series of the same name, is scheduled to be in Diamond Comic Distributor retailers' July 2 shipments.

"To celebrate the all-new season of People of Earth, TBS and DC Entertainment have teamed up to create a special edition "Experiencer's Guide to Aliens" comic book," reads the retailer announcement. "Inside, readers and fans will find a deep dive into the sci-fi comedy series, which centers on less-than-perfect aliens, botched abductions, and paranormal investigation through the lens of StarCrossed, a support group for alien abductees-or 'experiencers'-who have set out on a journey to discover the truth."

Each store will receive one copy of this promotional comic book, and a 5¢ freight credit will be given on a future invoice to pay for the increased shipping cost.

TBS is a sister company of DC Entertainment in the Time Warner umbrella.

The second season of TBS's People of Earth debuts July 24.
