Spider-Man: Homecoming remains in 1,657 screens in North America, with its North American home video release coming September 26 digitally and a physical release October 17.

The film beat out out last week's champ, Despicable Me 3, which had a $170.2m second weekend globally (although with a strong $136.7m international presence, neck-and-neck with Spider-Man.)

“We couldn’t be more thrilled about Spider-Man’s triumphant return to the box office," said Sony's President of Worldwidde Marketing & Distribution, Josh Greenstein.

Internationally, Spider-Man played in 23,400 screens across 56 offshore markets - earning the #1 spot in all but six.

The film openslater this month in France, Germany, and Spain.

Original Story: Estimates are in for Spider-Man: Homecoming's Thursday debut, and it adds up to $40.7m. Deadline reports that the Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios film earned $15.4m domestically and $25.3m internationally. Estimates from earlier in the week pegged the ultimate opening weekend worldwide gross between $190m and $210m.

Spider-Man opened in 3,450 locations in North America on Thursday, with that number growing to 4,348 for today's full-scale debut.

On the international front, Korea is particularly receptive to the Tom Holland-led film with $10.4m - an opening day record. The film won't open until later this month in France, Germany, and Spain, with Japan's debut months away and China's unknown.
