Joan Lee, the wife of iconic Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee, passed away Thursday in Los Angeles at the age of 93, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"I can confirm the sad news that Joan Lee passed away this morning quietly and surrounded by her family," stated a spokesperson for the family in a statement to THR. "The family ask that you please give them time to grieve and respect their privacy during this difficult time."
A former model, Joan Lee nee Clayton has been described by Stan Lee as the partial inspiration for the Fantastic Four. She did voicework on several Marvel animated series, and cameo'd in several live-action films including X-Men: Apocalypse. In 1987 she wrote the novel The Pleasure Palace.
Lee is survived by her husband, as well as daughter Joan Celia Lee.
