Original Story: With Marvel Legacy, Deadpool will become The Despicable Deadpool, picking up its classic numbering with #287. What's more, the title will embrace Deadpool's origins as a villain - and reignite his rivalry with Cable.

"Deadpool started off as a bad guy when he appeared in New Mutants, and we’re bringing him back to those roots," series editor Jordan D. White told IGN. "Wade’s spent the last few years trying really hard to be a hero, to do the right thing. And what did it get him? A big steaming pile of… uh, tears. A steaming pile of tears. That’s a thing, right? Anyway, if that’s all he’s gonna get for all that effort… why even try?"

As for how the newly "Despicable" Wade Wilson will come to clash with his old rival/pal Cable, series writer Gerry Duggan pointed to another classic X-Force character.

"Just before Secret Empire began Deadpool needed help to save the Preston family, and his friends weren't immediately available - so he turned to an enemy: Stryfe," Duggan explained. "Stryfe saved for lives for him, and now Deadpool must pay his price: he has to kill 4 people for him. Cable is the first name that Stryfe gives him. Deadpool might have been able to do some damage control after Secret Empire, but now with Stryfe calling in his maker."

The Despicable Deadpool #278 and #288 will feature art by Scott Koblish. Here are the full solicits for both issues:

Deadpool’s going back to his vile beginnings as a mercenary and wanted killer. No more being a hero. No more X-Men. No more Avengers. And if he wants to break bad again, what’s more despicable than killing your best friend? Cable better get ready because his old friend Wade has him in the crosshairs.
