Actor Michael Beach has been cast in Aquaman as Jesse Kane, who, according to Deadline, is a hijacker who has a fateful interaction with Aquaman in the film.

Jesse Kane is rumored to be the father of Yaya Abdul-Mateen's Black Manta, who will supposedly vow vengeance on Aquaman after the death of his father. The rumors have been stoked by a photo Beach and Abdul-Mateen posed for together back in May, in Australia, near where the film is in production.

Beach later responded on Twitter to a direct question about Jesse Kane's Black Manta connection with a non-denial, saying "Yes or no ... Correct!"

In comic books, this origin story would line up with Black Manta's "New 52" origins, though differs from previous versions of the character. His "Rebirth" origins have not been revealed - and neither as his surname. Only his first name, "David."

Beach joins the film as ad third villain along with Black Manta and Patrick Wilson's Ocean Master.

Aquaman is due out in theaters December 21, 2018.
