Marvel has released a new image teasing a Marvel Legacy announcement that the publisher says fans "have been longing for," to be made on Friday, June 23 - one that it also claims will "change the comic book industry."
"A new initiative that will take things back to our iconic history, with a firm eye on the future, Marvel Legacy will present stories that remind everyone — newcomers and longtime fans alike — why Marvel stands as the premier name in fiction,” said Editor in Chief Axel Alonso in a statement. “Our titles will unearth gems from Marvel’s rich history, remind readers of connections between characters, and usher in the return of some major characters who’ve been missed. Above all else, we want to inject our comics with a massive dose of fun!"
Notice yet another tease from Alonso about the retun of "major characters who've been missed." It is still unclear to which characters Alonso is referring specifically, but Alonso himself previewed an image earlier this week featuring Fantastic Four character Ben Grimm in a belt adorned with a "2" instead of a "4," and the recently amended solicit for Marvel Legacy #1 also foretells of a second return that it says fans "have been dreading."
Marvel Legacy #1 is due out on shelves September 27.
