The latest DC animated film Batman and Harley Quinn will receive a one-night-only theatrical release on August 14, two weeks ahead of its August 31 home video release date.
The film, which features an original story by Bruce Timm in which Batman and Harley Quinn team up to take down Poison Ivy and the Floronic Man, will premiere at Comic-Con International: San Diego on July 21. Previous DC animated films such as The Killing Joke and Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders have also had one-night-only theatrical screenings.
“Fans of DC Universe Original Movies are a devoted legion, and never was that so evident than with the enthusiastic embracing of our Batman: The Killing Joke Fathom Events presentation,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Vice President, Family and Animation Marketing. “Audiences nationwide turned the screenings into true interactive experiences, and we believe Batman and Harley Quinn will inspire a similar night of celebration.”
The digital version of Batman and Harley Quinn will be available the night following the screening on August 15. Audiences in attendance will also be the first to see an exclusive Harley Quinn featurette.
Tickets for the theatrical screening will be available starting June 30. A list of theaters screening Batman and Harley Quinn is available on the Fathom Events website.
