An anime adaptation of Naoki Urusawa's Pluto is in development by Genco, reports CrunchyRoll. A poster for the film was spotted on display at this week's Annecy International Film Festival.

Originally published from 2003 to 2009, Pluto is a mature retelling of Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy story "The Greatest Robot on Earth."

In 2010, Universal Pictures optioned Pluto for a live-action film, but no further developments had been made public.
