San Francisco Giants right fielder Hunter Pence is partnering with others to launch a comic shop in Houston, Texas called Coral Sword: Coffee, Comics, and Games. The store is scheduled to open September at 1318 Telephone Road in Houston, and is a partnership with Pence, his wife Alexis Pence, Comic Book Men co-star Ming Chen, David Buehrer, and Sanford Bledsoe III.
“Coffee and gaming are two of my favorite off-the-field activities,” Pence said. "I'm most excited about creating a space that combines the two. Incorporating new media into the coffee shop is an exciting way for me to bring a piece of San Francisco to Houston that keeps me feeling connected.”
Coral Sword will have “indie board games, a curated comic selection, and specialty coffee and tea.”
Pence is a two-time All-Star outfielder, and with the San Francisco Giants has won the World Series twice. The professional baseballer is a Texas native, and lives in Houston during the off-season.
