DC's Legends of Tomorrow has announced a new crewmember of the Waverider for season 3 - actor Tala Ashe as Zari Adrianna Tomaz.
If that name isn't familiar, you may recognize her as Isis, the former lover of Black Adam in post-Crisis continuity, and as the star of The Secrets of Isis, a 70s TV show that spun out of the live-action Shazam! show.
A description of the character from The Hollywood Reporter describes the character as a Muslim-American "gray hat hacktivist" who is recruited from the year 2030, and who has "secret, hidden powers derived from an ancient source."
It's unclear if DC's Legends of Tomorrow's version of the character will become Isis - who gains power over "animals and the elements" by saying a magic word like Shazam and Black Adam - or if her connection to those characters will be explored. It seems unlikely that she'll go by her former superhero name however, given the 2017 connotation of the name "Isis" as a real world terrorist group.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is signed on to play Black Adam - who in comic books rescued Isis from a life of slavery and gave her superpowers - in the DCEU, both in a planned Shazam movie and a reported Black Adam solo film.
No premiere date for DC's Legends of Tomorrow season 3 has been announced.
