Marvel Comics is launching a new Star Wars miniseries set during the Clone Wars, starring Samuel L. Jackson's Mace Windu. Titled Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic - Mace Windu, the five-issue title will be written by Matt Owens and drawn by Denys Cowan.
"For over a thousand generations, the Jedi have been the peacekeepers of the galaxy…but now, at the dawn of the Clone Wars, they find themselves in a new role: generals in the Army of the Republic," reads Marvel's official description. "As Mace Windu, one of the Jedi’s greatest warriors, leads a small unit of Jedi into battle shortly after the war begins, the Jedi must make peace with their new role, or be lost to the violence around them!"
Jesus Saiz's cover to Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic - Mace Windu features the iconic Jedi master and his purple lightsable - the "BMF" engraving can't be seen however (unfortunately). Several variant covers are planned, with artists Rahzzah, Javier Rodriguez, and Russell Dauterman slated to be involved.
Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic - Mace Windu is scheduled to debut in August.
