Mike Mignola's Hellboy is getting rebooted with a new movie franchise starring David Harbour and directed by Neil Marshall. Mignola announced the news on Facebook, with more details coming soon after from The Hollywood Reporter.
Tentatively titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, the R-rated movie is being written by Mignola, frequent collaborator Christopher Golden, and Eureka creator (and BOOM! Studios co-founder) Andrew Cosby. Mignola and Dark Horse Comics' co-founder Mike Richardson are co-producing this reboot, along with Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin.
Neither Guillermo del Toro or Ron Perlman, the director and star of the previous two films, are reportedly involved in this Hellboy reboot. According to THR, the del Toro's talk earlier this year of doing a third Hellboy film himself was stymied by the Mexican director's push for a larger budget for him to return.
