After being hinted at earlier this year, Manchester Black is coming back into the DCU in a big way - and starting with the newly-released cover to June's Superman #25. This cover wasn't a part of the original DC Comics June 2017 solicitiations, but has been added now on DC's website.

Potential Spoilers ahead for Superman.

Given Manchester Black's prominence on the cover, it would appear as if the character is the mystery villain masquerading as the Kents' neighbor, Farmer Cobb, in  the current "Black Dawn" arc running through Superman.

Black's last appearance was in an early "New 52" Teen Titans arc, reimagined as an evil S.T.A.R. Labs employee. A seemingly revised version of Black popped up in last month's Action Comics #978 as one of several Superman villains in a montage double-page spread when the post-Crisis version of Superman's history was reincorporated into modern continuity.

Manchester Black was originally created by Joe Kelly and Doug Mahnke in 2001's Action Comics #775, and Superman #25 is scheduled to be drawn, in part, by Mahnke. Although Black has only had a handful of appearances since then, he has been used several times in related DC media, from the animated movie Superman vs. the Elite, as a playable character in Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, and even homaged in an episode of CW's The Flash.

Superman #25 is scheduled to hit stands June 25.
