Marvel has announced Secret Empire: Brave New World, a new series that will tie-in to the publisher's summer event, which will explore the ramifications of Steve Rogers' betrayal on the Marvel Universe. According to Nerdist, the series is written by Paul Allor with art from Brian Level.
Characters featured in Brave New World include the Invaders, Blade, Gwenpool, and a new Patriot. Allor and Level will handle the series' main story, while each issue features back-up stories from rotating creative teams.
Interestingly, it looks like Steve's Secret Empire won't just be the villains Zemo was seen recruiting in Captain America: Steve Rogers. He'll have some allies along for the ride as well.
“I think, for me, the interesting thing about Secret Empire is the way Steve manages to convince longtime allies to side with him,” explained series editor Charles Beacham. “He’s not just an all-out villain. He’s still Steve he still wants to save the world. His process for doing it is just different. And some of his allies see this new resolve as the best road to a better future. As for who’s going to fall in with Cap… You’ll have to pick it up!”
No further details about the new Patriot were given, but he does bear some resemblance to Sam Wilson, the current Captain America who has been seen in his old Falcon gear in other Secret Empire related solicitations which has led to speculation about his future.
Secret Empire: Brave New World #1 will be on shelves in June.
