ReedPop released new information about the 2017 New York Comic Con this week, including some major news about ticket sales. In a break with previous years - and most comic-cons around the country - ReedPop will not offer weekend passes to NYCC 2017. Fans will only be able to purchase single day badges for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as well as Sunday badges for kids.

The company explained the move saying that, due to renovations at the Javits Center and the show's ever increasing attendance (they reached around 180,000 fans last year), space limitations have necessitated the change.

"You may or may not know that the Javits Center is going to be under construction. This means we'll be working with some space limitations and we want to make sure as many people have the opportunity to buy a ticket and come to the show as possible," read a statement from ReedPop. "Selling only single day tickets will give more fans the chance to buy a ticket for at least a day to experience the fun of NYCC."

The company made a second change to its ticket sale process - tickets will now go on sale over an upcoming weekend, though the dates for the sale have not been announced. The unpopular digital queue and "Fan Verification" process to buy tickets will remain, however. ReedPop based this change on fan demand, gauged through an official Facebook poll.

New York Comic Con 2017 will take place October 5-8 at the Javits Center in Manhattan.
