Black Panther actors Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira held a joint birthday party during the filming of the Marvel Studios movie, with a theme based on the 1988 comedy Coming to America. Gurira, Nyong'o and party attendees including Chadwick Boseman , Winston Duke, and Janelle Monae dressed up as characters from the John Landis movie.

Coming to America has an actual connection to the Marvel U, as both Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Vondie Curtis-Hall (Ben Urich) appeared in the 1988 film.

Black Panther is scheduled to open in theaters February 16, 2018.
