Russell Crowe has begun responding - and encouraging fan-casting and fan-art of him as Cable for the planned Deadpool sequel. It began Monday evening when Crowe responded to fan-art of him as Cable, tagging co-creator Rob Liefeld in the message.
Crowe has since retweeted another piece of fan-art, as well as a fan poll on if he'd make a good Cable. For his part, Liefeld has endorsed the idea:
Freaking AWESOME sir!! https://t.co/Q496DRN8V6— robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) February 28, 2017
Crowe has done comic book adaptations before, playing Jor-El in 2013's Man of Steel. Additionally, Bryan Singer offered him the role of Wolverine for 2000's X-Men, but the Australian actor passed - but recommended then-unknown Hugh Jackman for the role.
A release date for 20th Century Fox's planned Deadpool sequel has not been announced.
