Joe Carnahan has been hired to replace Jeff Wadlow as director of 20th Century Fox's X-Force film, according to ComicBook. Carnahan will reportly write the film's script with Ryan Reynolds, who has also signed on to co-star and executive produce. No reason was given for Wadlow's apparent departure, as he had been working on the film since 2013.
If these reports are accurate, this would be the second Marvel film Carnahan has been attached to. In 2012 he was in talks with 20th Century Fox to direct a Daredevil reboot, but talks terminated when Fox's film rights expired, reverting back to Marvel. In 2009, Carnahan was also in talks with Marvel Comics for a miniseries focusing on Juggernaut, and later Taskmaster.
