X-Men: Apocalypse's Sophie Turner, who played a young Jean Grey , now says that she's shooting an X-Men sequel this summer - despite the fact that no X-Men sequel has officially been announced.

“We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men," Turner told HeyUGuys at the British Academy of Film awards. "We’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8.”

Though no sequel has officially been announced, X-Men producer Simon Kinberg laid some groundwork while answering fan questions, saying the idea of filming the "Dark Phoenix Saga" was on the table. Jean Grey's Phoenix powers were shown in X-Men: Apocalypse.

Meanwhile, rumors have persisted of an unannounced X-Men film with a working title of "X-Men: Supernova," which is rumored to shoot alongside New Mutants in Montreal, beginning in May. With no official announcement, these rumors remain unsubstantiated - however Turner's recent comments add some credibility to the idea.

No other X-Men franchise actors or filmmakers have made any indication of a new sequel filming this summer, and long-time X-Men director Bryan Singer has said he wanted to take a break from X-Men movies, although he's subsequently been reported to be directing Fox's untitled X-Men television series pilot.

20th Century Fox has reserved several dates, including March 2, 2018; November 2, 2018; and February 14, 2019 for projected X-Men film releases.
