Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently had a meeting at DC Entertainment headquarters in Burbank in light of his upcoming role as Black Adam in the planned 2019 film Shazam, and took to Instagram to share the experience somewhat. While light on spoilers, it is heavy on promotion and passion from the wrestler-turned-actor.
"Had a very cool and strategic meeting with the heads of DC about their entire universe," wrote Johnson. "As a hard core DC fan, to get a real sense of the tonal shifts and developments coming in these future movies has me fired up. Something we, as DC fans have all been waiting for for a very long time. Hope, optimism & FUN."
"Even when talking about the the most ruthless villain/anti-hero of all time finally coming to life," Johnson continued, referring to Black Adam. "Prepare yourselves DC Universe. #KneelAtHisFeet #OrGetCrushedByHisBoot #BlackAdam"
DC Films co-head Geoff Johns tweeted out his involvement in the meeting, describing it as "One of my favorite meetings ever..."
Johnson had previously said that Shazam would not be connected to the primary DC Cinematic Unvierse, with it being produced at Warner Bros.' New Line Cinema division seperate from the other films. But with the organizational changes that saw the creation of the dedicated DC Films division headed up by Geoff Johns and John Berg, that may change.
Shazam has an announced release date of April 5, 2019, however Warner Bros. seems to have backed off several previously announced release dates.
