An updated synopsis for DC's Powerless was released by NBC, hinting at some major retooling for the upcoming sitcom set in the DC Universe. Originally billed as a show taking place at an insurance agency in the DC Universe, the show now apparently takes place in the Research & Development department at Wayne Enterprises.
Here's the new synopsis:
"In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero."
the show's as-yet unaired pilot earlier this year, before the departure of original showrunner Ben Queen. The pilot did not match this newly-released synopsis, lending credence to the that part of the pilot may be re-shot for its debut.
Powerless is scheduled to debut February 2, 2017 on NBC.
