John Wick co-director David Leitch has been hired to direct 20th Century Fox's Deadpool sequel, according to Deadline. Leitch replaces Tim Miller, who left the franchise over "creative differences" with the studio and producer/star Ryan Reynolds.
The stuntman-turned-director reportedly beat out Drew Goddard and Magnus Martens for the second Deadpool movie. Leitch is currently directing an adaptation of the graphic novel The Coldest City, and was announced to be co-directing Valiant's Bloodshot for Sony with his John Wick partner Chad Stahelski. Leitch also served as a second unit director on Captain America: Civil War and The Wolverine, and was the action coordinator on X-Men Origins: Wolverine, working closely with Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds.
No release date for the Deadpool sequel has been reported.
