A host of movie Avengers, including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), maybe-Simon Williams (Nathan Fillion), Dr. Erskine (Stanley Tucci), and Beth, the Manhattan waitress Captain America saved in Marvel’s The Avengers (Ashley Johnson), have teamed up in a Facebook video encouraging American citizens to vote on November 8.
While Donald Trump’s name is never mentioned directly in the three-minute video, the agenda of the "s**t-ton" of ‘assembled’ actors is clear, with the previously-outspoken Cheadle delivering the most pointed appeal (which is putting it mildly). "...a racist, abusive coward who could permantly damage the fabric of our society," is how the actor describes the unnamed candidate.
The video was produced by Joss Whedon for Save the Day, a self-described “short form digital production company dedicated to the idea that voting is necessary and heroic act…” Hence, the multiple superheroes.
Other actors (some of whom haven’t actually appeared in a Marvel Studios movie) include a former Harry Osborn (James Franco) and a former Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen).
As an added bonus, Ruffalo is volunteered by his fellow thespians to do a nude scene in his next movie if people watching the video vote.
