20th Century Fox has announced plans to create an action adventure film based on a highly fictionalized version of the life of Stan Lee. Lee sold his life rights to Fox, who plan to create a film in the style of James Bond, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will be produced by Power Rangers producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, who also produced The Maze Runner and the Twilight films. The story will be set in the 70s, and will not be a biopic but a straight action adventure film centered on Lee as the hero.
There is no indication whether any other Marvel Comics luminaries or Lee's creative partners such as Jack Kirby or Steve Ditko will be characters of any kind in the film.
20th Century Fox holds the film rights to several Marvel Comics properties co-created by Lee, including the X-Men and the Fantastic Four.
No writers, director, actors, or release date for the untitled Stan Lee film have been announced.
