Updated October 4, 2016: TV Insider now reports the release date for Vixen season 2 as October 13 on CW Seed, the same day Legends of Tomorrow season 2 premieres on CW.

Along with the new date is a description for Vixen season 2, CW Seed has teased the addition of more as yet unnamed animated characters to the cast.

Original Story: With new seasons of Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl all premiering in October, one CW superhero show has been left out: CW Seed's animated web-series, Vixen. Yesterday however, CW Seed announced a debut date - but then quickly retracted it.

On Monday, CW Seed tweeted that Vixen season 2 would premiere on October 14, however that date was quickly retracted, with CW saying they "spoke too fast," but that the premiere was "coming soon."

This is the latest wrinkle in Vixen's usage by CW; the network had big plans for the character, bringing her and voice-actress Megalyn Echikunwoke over for a guest appearance in the last season of Arrow. The character was subsequently wanted for the new season of Legends of Tomorrow, however due to Echikunwoke being unavailable for filming the show's writers created a new Vixen that is an ancestor to the current one from Vixen and Arrow. That Vixen is scheduled to be played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers.

Echikunwoke is still scheduled to voice Vixen for her animated series upcomign second season, although that show's release is still up in the air.
