True Blood actor Joe Manganiello has reportedly been cast as Deathstroke in Ben Affleck's still untitled Batman solo film, according to the Wall Street Journal. The report comes from text in a profile with DC Films' co-heads Geoff Johns and Peter Berg, with WSJ stating in a companion piece that Johns confirmed it to the newspaper.
Johns reportedly could not say whether Manganiello would appear in Justice League as well.
Like his upcoming big screen rival Ben Affleck, Manganiello is a superhero movie veteran, playing Flash Thompson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies. Additionally, the actor was on the short list to play Superman for Man of Steel, but said he had to back out of screen tests due to his True Blood schedule.
Last month, Affleck shared test footage of an actor in a Deathstroke costume, though the actor and context were not known at the time. Justice League is currently filming in London for a November 16, 2017 release date. No release date for Affleck's Batman film has been announced.
