Georgina Campbell has been cast as Lyta Zod for Syfy's upcoming Krypton, according to Deadline. Campbell's purported character is described as the female lead in the show, which is set two generations before the planet's desctruction leading to the origin of Superman.
According to the Hollywood trade, Campbell's Zod will be a cadet in the military cast, the daughter of a prominent general named Alura Zod. Furthermore, her character is said to be in a "forbidden romance" with the show's other main character, Seg-El - the grandfather of Superman.
This would be the first non-British television show for the BAFTA-winning Campbell, who previously appeared in Sky1's After Hours and also filmed a small role in the upcoming King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
Krypton is based on a pitch by Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer, and is being produced by his shingle Phantom Four in conjunction with Warner Bros. Television. The pilot is scheduled to be filmed in Serbia later this year, although no release date has been announced by Syfy.
