Iron Man director/actor Jon Favreau is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Happy Hogan for 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, according to Variety. Favreau played the role in all three Iron Man films, even after stepping away from the franchise as a director after the first sequel.
If these reports are correct, it would reunite Favreau with Robert Downey Jr., who was previously confirmed to have a major role in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The Jon Watts-directed movie is currently filming in Atlanta.
In May, Favreau said that while he felt he "left his mark" on Iron Man, he would be open to returning to direct the speculative fourth Iron Man "for a great story."
Spider-Man: Homecoming is scheduled to be released July 7, 2017.
