Nearly every major film goes through re-writes and re-shoots, but Marvel Studios' upcoming Doctor Strange has a novel participant: Community creator Dan Harman.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harmon was brought in to write additional scenes for some Doctor Strange re-shoots. Principal photography of Doctor Strange took place November 4, 2015 to April 3, 2016. Actor Benedict Wong said that a round of reshoots was completed earlier this month. It is not known if Harmon's work was for that, or if additional reshoots are being done.
Harmon is best known for his comedy work, primarily his sitcom Community. Marvel has mined Community for talent before; Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo directed several seminal episodes of the show. Likewise, Community actor Donald Glover has an as yet unnamed role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and the Russos have included actors Jim Rash and Danny Pudi in cameos in their other Marvel projects.
The content of the new scenes is unknown, though they could be connected to the scenes currently being filmed for Thor: Ragnarok that reportedly connect that film to Doctor Strange.
Doctor Strange is due for a November 4 theatrical release.
