The Pinewood Group, the parent company of the iconic Pinewood Studios and its associated lots, has been sold to a London-based private equity group called Aermont Capital through its subsidiary Bidco for $419m, according to Deadline. Pinewood Studios' original UK film lot and its newly-opened expansions in Atlanta, Toronto, Malaysia, and the Dominican Republic, are the primary filming locations for virtually all of the James Bond and Star Wars films, as well as the Marvel Studios films.
“The Board believes that Bidco can provide Pinewood with the platform required for future growth," said Pinewood Group chairman Lord Grade. "The Pinewood Group has been transformed in recent years but has been somewhat constrained in realising its ambitions due to the lack of share liquidity. As a result of the Strategic Review instigated by the Board, Pinewood now has the prospect of a funding structure for the future. The Board is encouraged by the commitment Bidco has already shown to management, to Pinewood’s strategy for growth, and to the future of the iconic Pinewood Studios."
There were no announced changes that would affect the filming of its various movies.
