Yesterday it was reported that Black Manta would be the villain of the upcoming Aquaman solo movie. Just as quickly, a high-profile actor jumped on Twitter to express interest in the role - and this one might actually have a shot at it.
Michael K. Williams, best known for playing Omar on The Wire, retweeted a fan suggestion that he be given the role, saying "Let's go!"
If Black Manta is indeed part of the Aquaman film, Williams's gravitas and pathos would lend some legitimacy to the silver age villain. Plus,it would be an upgrade for the actor after his first comic book movie experience - playing a bystander in 2008's Incredible Hulk.
Aquaman is due out in theaters July 27, 2018.
First Look At LEGENDS OF TOMORROW's VIXEN
DC's Legends of Tomorrow's Justice Society will include Vixen - but not the Vixen we've seen before. Here's your first glimpse at the new version of the character - the modern Vixen's predecessor - played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers.
Though the modern Vixen was played by Megalyn Echikunwoke, who voices the character for CW Seed, in her appearance in Arrow, Echikunwoke was not available to play the character full time on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, necessitating the re-casting/reconfiguring of the role. Richardson-Sellers's Vixen does have a direct connection to the modern version - her character, Amaya Jiwe, is Mari McCabe's grandmother.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow season 2 premieres October 13.
