Katie McGrath has been cast in a recurring role on Supergirl as Lena Luthor, according to TVLine.
According to the online Hollywood trade, "Lena arrives in National City on the heels of brother Lex’s incarceration hoping for a fresh start. Lena has taken over as CEO of her family’s billion-dollar-tech company, Luthor Corp, which has been tarnished by Lex’s evil infamy. Her goal? To re-brand the empire as a force for good. Lena wants to be seen as her own person, separate from her brother. Kara is drawn into Lena’s sphere and must determine if she is friend or foe."
Originally created by Jerry Siegel and Kurt Schaffenberger for 1961's Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #23, she was used prominently in the CBS's Superboy and the CW's Smallville.
McGrath is currently starring in the Chiller series Slasher, and has previously appeared in Dracula, Merlin, and The Tudors. The Irish actress also appeared in Jurassic World, as well as the upcoming King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
Supergirl is scheduled to begin its second season October 10 on the CW.
