iZombie alum Matthew MacCaull has been cast to play Commander Steel in the upcoming season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow on the CW, according to Entertainment Weekly. At Comic-Con International: San Diego, it was revealed that the character would be a member of the small-screen Justice Society of America, aongside Maisie Richardson-Seller's Vixen, Patrick J. Adams' Hourman, and the uncast Obsidian, Stargirl, and Dr. Mid-Nite.
Earlier this summer, Nick Zano was cast as Commander Steel's grandson, Dr. Nate Heywood (a.k.a. Citizen Steel).
MacCaull is best known for playing Sebastian Meyer on the CW's iZombie - also, coincidentally, based on a DC title. MacCaull also had small roles in the recent Star Trek Beyond, Tomorrowland, and the 2004 comic book-based TV series Jeremiah.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow is scheduled to return October 13 for its second season on the CW.
