Starz has begun developing a new superhero-themed drama entitled Tomorrow, Today based on a script by rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.
Tomorrow, Today centers on a veteran who is wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit. While in prison, he becomes the subject of an experiment designed to "create the perfect man," before breaking out and using his powers for good.
“I am looking forward to continuing my relationship with my Starz family, we have had great success together on Power and I am excited to get going on all of our upcoming projects together,” Jackson told Deadline. “I knew Starz would be the perfect home for Tomorrow, Today. This project is very personal to me…creating it, writing it, finding the best team for it and I will continue to be involved every step of the way.”
The story bears a strong resemblance to the origin of Marvel's Luke Cage, and Boys N The Hood director John Singleton made a connection between 50 Cent and Luke Cage all the way back in 2004 when describing the original, failed Marvel Studios Luke Cage film as "Imagine if 50 Cent got super-powers."
No projected release date for Tomorrow, Today has been announced.
