Netflix's Marvel Universe got just a little bit bigger over the weekend at Comic-Con International: San Diego, when the first trailers and teasers for Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders all premiered, and Daredevil was confirmed for a third season. But how long will fans have to wait to dive in to those shows? Turns out, Netflix has a plan for their Marvel shows that takes them all the way through 2018.
The streaming network will continue its roll out of two shows or seasons per year, according to Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos - though 2018 might upset that balance. Sarandos explained to ScreenCrush that Luke Cage Season 1 would premiere September 30, followed in 2017 by Iron Fist and The Defenders.
After that, 2018 has three shows to pick from, with Daredevil Season 3, Jessica Jones Season 2, and Daredevil spin-off The Punisher all on the docket. It's unclear whether all three would be released in 2018 - or whether the Punisher could return sooner, as part of the Defenders.
Regarding the latter, Sarandos's only comment was "Wait and see."
