Book publisher Simon & Schuster has announced Gallery 13, a new imprint focused on publishing original graphic novels. According to ICv2, Gallery 13's inaugural line will include work from Jeff Lemire, Bernie Wrightson, and Stephen King. This is a spin-off of its current prose novel imprint, Gallery Books.
Gallery 13 will publish three titles in 2017, including Roughneck, an original graphic novel from Jeff Lemire about a brother and sister escaping an abusive situation which is slated for April 2017. Additionally, they'll publish an American translation of Alone, a story by French cartoonist Christophe Chaboute about a lighthouse keeper, which will hit shelves in May 2017. Finally, they'll publish a reissued version of Stephen King and Bernie Wrightson's Creepshow, their 1982 adaptation of the classic horror movie, which is due for a July 2017 release.
“Visual storytelling has become a major part of the entertainment market, from movies to video games to apps," said Jennifer Bergstrom, Publisher of Gallery Books. "By forming Gallery 13, we look to put our own stamp on this modern narrative trend with exceptional books from remarkable authors and artists.”
