Valiant Entertainment is planning on featuring Hillary Clinton in an upcoming issue of Faith timed to coincide with the United States' November elections. Faith #5 by guest writer Louise Simonson and artist Pere Perez will feature the U.S. Democratic Party's presumptive nominee for President of the United States in what the publisher is calling a "history-making, 48-page election special."
“[Faith] is so positive and she’s very much what I think a hero should be,” writer Louise Simonson told The Washington Post. “I wrote Superman for a while and — she’s almost in her soul, she is like the female Superman. [Writer Jody Houser]’s work is wonderful on this book, but I was glad they would let me play just a little bit in this particular sandbox.”
Simonson and Perez' story will be a back-up to the ongoing serial by Houser and incoming series artists Meghan Hetrick and Marguerite Sauvage.
It has become common currency for major U.S. Presidential candidates - and Presidents - to appear in comic books. Due to Clinton's long history in the limelight, she has appeared numerous times including Superman, Amazing Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, and Judge Dredd.
Faith #5 is scheduled to be released November 2, while the U.S. elections will take place November 8.
Valiant hasn't disclosed if they will be featuring other major U.S. Presidential candidates in its titles this year.
