Updated July 25, 2016: Dope actress Kiersey Clemons has officially signed on play Iris West in the upcoming The Flash movie, according to Variety. The Hollywood trade reported ealier this month that she was the leading candidate for the role at that time.
Original Story: The Flash movie is one step closer to finding its female lead, as Dope actress Kiersey Clemons is reportedly director Rick Famuyiwa's top choice to take the role, according to a report from Variety.
Although not confirmed, the Hollywood trade's sources say that the female lead is "likely" Iris West. a tough-as-nails journalist and love interest to Ezra Miller's Barry Allen.
Clemons rose to fame starring in Dope, which was also directed by Famuyiwa, who recently took over directing duties on Flash from Seth Grahame-Smith.
The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit also reports that other actresses in the running for the role include Rita Ora and Lucy Boynton
Flash is scheduled for a March 16, 2018 release.
