After announcing Superman would take an onscreen role in Supergirl’s second season, building off his blurred cameo in Supergirl season one, the newly minted CW show has found its Man of Steel in Teen Wolf alum Tyler Hoechlin.
“[Showruner] Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg in a statement. “We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”
This won’t be Hoechlin’s first comic book adaptation; his breakout role was in Road to Perdition alongside Tom Hanks.
Hoechlin will appear as Superman in the two-part premiere of Supergirl season 2.
