Universal Studios Hollywood have revealed a first look at its upcoming The Walking Dead attraction, as well as the grand opening date of July 4. Based on the series created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore and popularized by the hit AMC series, The Walking Dead walkthrough attraction is an extension of the franchise's multi-year partnership with its part in the annual Halloween Horror Nights.
Take a look:
“After six years of working on The Walking Dead, we have a great opportunity to take The Walking Dead out of the studio, off the soundstage and into an attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood where guests can come face-to-face with walkers,” said Greg Nicotero, the AMC show's long-time special effects head and sometimes director. Nicetero's studio, KNB eFx, produced the zombies that'll be in the attraction.
“It’s very exciting to be able to make the attraction as 100 percent authentic as possible," Nicetero added. "We’re getting the chance to utilize molds that were created specifically for the show and translate them into parts of the attraction. We’re creating animatronic walkers that guests will be able to see…it’s never been done before….it’s one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art….and I can’t wait.”
The walkthrough attraction will have animatronic walkers, as well as extensive set design and costumes inspired by the AMC show. The attraction is in a custom-built structure just inside Univeral Studios Hollywood's main entryway.
