Over the past 24 hours, a series of leaks have apparently given new information about December's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - ironic, given that the film's story focuses on a Rebel Squad stealing the Empire's Death Star schematics.
First, online book catalog Edelweiss leaked a series of images purported to be from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story: The Official Visual Story Guide, which its listing says will be released in January 2017. The pages put many names to character faces, identifying the already known Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, along with naming Alan Tudyk's character as a Droid called K-250, Jiang Wen as a "freelance assassin" named Baze, Riz Ahmed as Bodhi, a rebel soldier, Donnie Yen as Chirrut, a "spiritual warrior", and two alien warriors named Pao and Bistan, with no actors named as portraying them. The pages also seemngly confirmed a major cameo from Darth Vader, something that's been speculated on since the film's story was revealed.
The pages have since been removed, with SlashFilm and other sites reporting that Disney claimed some of the information was "not final", and subject to change.
Likewise, Edelweiss and Amazon have notified customers who pre-ordered the collected edition of Marvel Comics's Rogue One prequel series that the collection has been cancelled, with both websites altering their entries to reflect the reported cancellation. The story was announced at C2E2 in March. Marvel declined to comment on the book's status.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled for release December 16.
