Quick, someone get Greg Berlanti on the phone...

Another comic book based show on the renewal bubble has met its fate, with ABC’s Agent Carter officially being cancelled by the network.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC has decided not to renew the show, which had two seasons filling in during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s mid-season hiatus. This move is less than surprising considering Agent Carter’s underwhelming ratings and its star, Hayley Atwell, signing on as the lead on Conviction, another ABC drama that was just ordered to series. This is the first of the MCU's spin-off shows to be cancelled.

Agent Carter season 2 ended on a cliffhanger. No plans to resolve its plot were announced.

Spoilers ahead for Captain America: Civil War...

This might be the literal final nail in the coffin for the character, as the elderly Peggy Carter died (of natural causes) during Marvel’s latest big screen adventure. Though the character could conceivably return in flashbacks of other eras on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or as she did in Ant-Man.
