In Hollywood’s unending quest to turn around the fortunes of video game movie adaptations, one studio is looking into the past to bring adaptations of the classic arcade games Missile Command and Centipede to the big screen.
According to Deadline, Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films has signed a deal with Atari to adapt these two classic arcade properties for film.
“[Atari is] thrilled to partner with Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films to develop feature films based on two of our most beloved titles,” said Atari CEO Fred Chesnais. “Centipede and Missile Command are part of Atari’s unparalleled and rich library of popular games and we cannot wait to see the movies come to life.”
No prospective release dates for either film were announced.
