Having successfully relaunched Star Wars and rebooted Star Trek, director J.J. Abrams has become known as something of a "fixer" for dormant sci-fi film franchises. Now, actor/comedian Chris Rock is leading the charge for him to add one more franchise to that list - and it's a doozy.
“Can you direct the Fantastic Four?” Rock asked Abrams at the Tribeca Film Festival (via Entertainment Weekly). “Can someone save it? I love the Fantastic Four and they keep f—ing it up!”
EW did not report Abrams's response, or if one was given.
Prior to the release of 2015's Fantastic Four, 20th Century Fox had a sequel scheduled for June 9, 2017. Following the poor reception for the film at the box office however, unconfirmed reports have said the studio has removed it from its film schedule.
