Creed actress Tessa Thompson has been cast in an unnamed major role in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, according to Deadline. Thompson will reportedly play "a kind of superhero" who will also act as Thor's love interest. The role is said to be a recurring one in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
Although Thompson's role is unknown, possible candidates include some of Thor's comic book paramours such as the Enchantress, or the more recently introduced Roz Solomon. Solomon is a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who debuted in Jason Aaron's Thor: God of Thunder, and was romantically involved with Thor for a time.
The Hollywood Reporter adds to this, reporting that Natalie Portman, who played Thor's love interest Jane Foster in the first two films, would not be appearing in Thor: Ragnarok.
Coincidentally, Portman and Thompson are scheduled to co-star in the film Annihilation. Thompson is co-starring with another Thor actor, Anthony Hopkins, in HBO's upcoming Westworld.
Thor: Ragnarok reportedly begins shooting in July. with a scheduled release date of November 3, 2017.
