One of stand-out moments of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was the reveal of a defaced Robin suit in the Batcave, alluding to the death of Batman's famous sidekick at the apparent hands of the Joker. And now, director Zack Snyder has revealed when that act happened in his timeline for the DC cinematic universe.
"In my mind, it was that Robin had died about 10 years earlier in some run-in with a young Joker," Snyder told IGN. "So that was an interesting thing to me. Sorta a fun backstory to play with."
Whether that or any other solo Batman DCCU story will be told has gotten a lot of attention over the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, in a new edition of the Empire Film Podcast, Snyder is asked about the strongly-hinted Darkseid as the big bad of 2017's Justice League - Part One and what might bring him into conflict with the superhero team.
"Maybe [Darkseid] exists out there in the universe," Snyder said. "Maybe he's looking for something. Something that is against life?"
What Snyder appears to be awkwardly hinting at is, of course, the Anti-Life Equation. In comic books, Darkseid is obsessed with learning the Anti-Life Equation, as it would allow him to conquer the universe. In the crossover event Final Crisis, the Apokolipian dictator obtains it and uses it to mount an invasion of Earth.
