Marvel's latest Dead No More teaser has cranked the upcoming fall event up a notch with what appears to be Gwen Stacy and... a man in a dog mask?
Gwen Stacy famously died in 1973's Amazing Spider-Man #121, but clones and alternate universe versions have appeared frequently -- including as the star of the current Spider-Gwen series.
But the apparent reveal of Gwen Stacy and a male companion brings to mind the controversial "Sins Past" storyline from J. Michael Straczynski's Amazing Spider-Man run, where it was revealed that Stacy had a secret tryst with Norman Osborn which produced twins -- a son named Gabriel and a daughter named Sarah. They were introduced as young adults, with Sarah being drawn by series artist Mike Deodato Jr. to look like her mother, Gwen. Sarah Stacy didn't appear much after the "Sins Past" storyline, but her brother Gabriel has appeared numerous times in roles as the Grey Goblin as well as American Son. Stacy was last seen in a psychiatric hospital after Amazing Spider-Man Presents: American Son.
If this duo is indeed Sarah and Gabriel Stacy however, there's no logical reason as of yet why he'd wear this dog-like mask.
Here is a look at how this newest teaser fits within the growing Dead No More teaser puzzle:
"Dead No More" is scheduled to begin in a story in one of Marvel's Free Comic Book Day titles on May 7. The exact nature of the event and whether it's a storyline in Amazing Spider-Man, a standalone series, or something else, is unknown.
