Disney Interactive is doubling down on Disney Infinity 3.0 as it enters its second year, with four new playsets along with new playable characters including Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Vision. Announcing during what's said ot be the first of a string of video events titled "Disney Infinity Next," Disney's Senior VP and General Manager of the game, John Blackburn, said that fan feedback led them to their upcoming releases.
"We value our fans and your feedback, and we’ve heard your requests to extend the life of our Starter Packs loud and clear. You’ve asked for a wider variety of content, across a wide variety of brands with each Play Set, and that’s what we’re committed to delivering," said Blackburn. "So, in 2016, we are focusing our development efforts on adding more Play Sets and characters – based on the biggest events coming from Disney this year – to the 3.0 Edition. In other words, if it’s happening at The Walt Disney Company, it’s happening inside Disney Infinity."
Four new playsets will be coming soon from Disney Infinity's four main brands: Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars. The precise details on those haven't been revealed, Blackburn said they will be released in 2016.
Many new playable characters will be added, ranging from Zootopia's Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde to The Jungle Book's Baloo, as well as the aforementioned Marvel characters Black Panther, the Vision and Ant-Man. Disney Interactive is also releasing the previously PlayStation Vita-exclusive Black Suit Spider-Man for all platforms.
