Two Broke Girls actress Beth Behrs is partnering up with actor/musician Matt Doyle (The Book of Mormon, Gossip Girl) on a new comic book series set in a post-apocalyptic San Francisco. Titled Dents, the series is scheduled to be published digitallu by LINE Webtoon next month. The Legend of Wonder Woman's Renae De Liz and Ray Dillon provided the cover art seen at right, but LINE Webtoon did not disclose who the interior artist will be -- despite the series debuting next month.
"Matt and I have been best friends since childhood and I have to give him all the credit for introducing me to the comic book world. We are so excited to be writing this together and working with LINE Webtoon," said Behrs. "Much of the story takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of the San Francisco Bay Area where Matt and I grew up. Our heroine, Eleanor, is a strong, young, powerful, complicated girl and we are incredibly excited to share her journey with the world. We are thrilled to be joining the LINE Webtoon family with Dents."
Dents is set in the year 2111, where over half of the world's population has been killed by the rise of an "ancient plague" unearthed by the melting polar ice caps. At the center of this is a 14 year-old girl named Eleanor, who is one of many twins born after a vaccine saves the world -- but all the twins are born with mysterious powers.
“With the popularity of stories such as The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Maze Runner, the desire for quality Young Adult storytelling is at an all-time high,” said JunKoo Kim, Founder and Head of LINE Webtoon. “When Beth and Matt brought us the unique and thrilling tale of Dents, we knew that it would be the perfect series for that audience. The content they have created tells a dark and captivating story that we know readers will love.”
